Over 60 billion doses supplements/year in the US, and no fatalities. News from www.nutri.com, known for the <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C powder on the market, C-Salts.

Here at Wholesale Nutrition, we highly value valid research related to vitamins and supplements. We are continually impressed with the reports from Orthomolecular Medicine News Service and would like to share some of their content with you from time to time. We hope you find it as fascinating as we do!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, December 28, 2011

No Deaths from Vitamins
America’s Largest Database Confirms Supplement Safety

(OMNS, Dec 28, 2011) There was not even one death caused by a vitamin supplement in 2010, according to the most recent information collected by the U.S. National Poison Data System.

The new 203-page annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, published online at http://www.aapcc.org/dnn/Portals/0/2010%20NPDS%20Annual%20Report.pdf, shows zero deaths from multiple vitamins; zero deaths from any of the B vitamins; zero deaths from vitamins A, C, D, or E; and zero deaths from any other vitamin.

Additionally, there were no deaths whatsoever from any amino acid or dietary mineral supplement.

Three people died from non-supplement mineral poisoning: two from medical use of sodium and one from non-supplemental iron. On page 131, the AAPCC report specifically indicates that the iron fatality was not from a nutritional supplement.

Fifty-seven poison centers provide coast-to-coast data for the National Poison Data System, “one of the few real-time national surveillance systems in existence, providing a model public health surveillance system for all types of exposures, public health event identification, resilience response and situational awareness tracking.”

Well over half of the U.S. population takes daily nutritional supplements. Even if each of those people took only one single tablet daily, that makes 165,000,000 individual doses per day, for a total of over 60 billion doses annually. Since many persons take far more than just one single vitamin or mineral tablet, actual consumption is considerably higher, and the safety of nutritional supplements is all the more remarkable.

Over 60 billion doses of vitamin and mineral supplements per year in the USA, and not a single fatality. Not one.

If vitamin and mineral supplements are allegedly so “dangerous,” as the FDA and news media so often claim, then where are the bodies?

Gently and naturally get to the root of your acne. Oils and vitamins, like sodium ascorbate, the <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C, could be the answer you've been looking for.

For many, young and old, acne can be the bane of their existence. It usually starts at puberty and can go on, well into adulthood. Some people suffer painful, scarring, and unsightly acne for their entire lives. If you or someone you love is inflicted with this stubborn condition, it may be of interest to you to treat it with vitamins and supplements or other natural products.

If you feel like you’ve tried every product on the market without success, you’re not alone. Many people with acne have extremely sensitive skin, hence the inflammation and susceptibility to infection, and experience more problems when using harsh chemicals and acne treatments on their skin. Doctors routinely prescribe medications for acne, but they can take weeks to show any improvement at all and often times make skin more sensitive and intensify the problem. There are also a lot of unwanted side effects from these medications and antibiotics, such as skin and bowel blistering, extreme fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, headaches and more. Some even alter DNA, disrupt the endocrine system, and can cause long-term reproductive damage.

You may think that it will take an extreme drug or potent chemical to get rid of your stubborn acne, but you may find that the gentle, natural approach is what your skin has been craving all along. Getting to the root cause of your acne can help you best determine how to treat it. There are a few things that contribute to the condition. Vitamin deficiencies, over-production of skin sebum, and bacteria are the most common causes.

Acne generally sets in at puberty because the hormone changes bring about an increased production of skin oils and a wax referred to as sebum. These oils and waxes trap germs, dirt, and microscopic pieces of shedding skin to form a clogged pore or acne pustule. Most people automatically think that they need to rid the skin of the oil to get rid of the problem. This is somewhat true, because the oil traps a lot of dirt and toxins. Cleaning the skin with a very gentle cleanser two or three times a day is recommended. However, if you strip the skin of all oils and sebum, it will retaliate by producing a lot more oil and sebum.

Most people with oily or acne-prone skin avoid products that contain oil. Really, you need healthy oils on your skin. There are a few oils that do not clog pores, heal wounds, kill unwanted bacteria, fade scars, and control sebum production. You can also treat acne by checking on certain vitamin levels, like <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Sodium Ascorbate">sodium ascorbate levels, with your doctor and supplementing to make sure that their levels are in check. In Part 2 of this series, we will discuss which vitamins help and why, as well as which natural products can help to finally rid your skin of acne, once and for all.

In “Part 1” of this series, we discussed the different types of neuralgia pain that you may be experiencing. Here we will go over some root causes of neuralgic pain and help you to learn how to naturally treat them. Of course, a proper diagnosis may be necessary, because serious infections, tumors, deformities in bone or artery structures, or trauma to the nerve could be serious underlying causes that need to be treated by a doctor. As always, speak with your doctor and review all current medications and conditions before starting a vitamins and supplements routine to treat your neuralgia.

All of the underlying causes of neuralgia are not understood by the medical community. Here we will discuss the most widely accepted causes and possible natural treatments of your neuralgic pain.

Chemical Imbalance: In the case of chemical imbalance, a trigger, such as alcohol, caffeine, monosodium glutamate (MSG) exposure, even barometric pressure changes, sets off a release of neuropeptides that aggravate and inflame nerves. The nerves then send pain messages to the brain, which in turn, releases more neuropeptides. This continuous cycle is called a positive feedback loop, and is one of the reasons that neurologic pain can become excruciating. Triggers differ from person to person, so keeping a pain diary, which tracks your daily habits, can help you to determine what triggers you have. Common triggers include dyes, stress, aged cheeses, sulfites, nitrates, allergies, and illness. Some people even report certain sounds triggering migraine or neuralgia attacks. Muscle spasms and the build-up of lactic acid in the muscles can chemically trigger a positive feedback loop. Lowered serotonin levels are thought to trigger a release of neuropeptides as well, which is why your doctor may recommend antidepressant medications for preventing migraines or neuralgic pain.

Vessel Dilation and Constriction: In addition to inflammation of nerve tissues, medications or other triggers can cause blood vessel dilation. Rapid dilation or constriction causes nerves in the face and head to send pain messages to the brain, which in turn causes a rapid rebound effect, causing extreme pain. Think about how an ice cream headache or brain freeze occurs. Cold substances come into contact with the roof of your mouth, causing a quick constriction of the blood vessels there. This sends a pain signal to the brain, neuropeptides are released, and the vessels of the face quickly dilate. This causes extreme pain, usually near the forehead and/or sinuses. Although a brain freeze usually only lasts a few seconds, it is the same vascular mechanism that causes migraines and neuralgic pain.

Many people are interested in preventing neuralgia attacks naturally, instead of taking drugs with unwanted side effects. The most commonly prescribed migraine and neuralgia preventative is a seizure medication and has side effects such as birth defects, loss of short term memory, hair loss, fatigue, and other “cognitive-related dysfunctions”. In fact, the studies of these types of drugs only shows around a 30% reduction in attacks and almost 30% of users report unwanted or debilitating cognitive-related dysfunction.

Studies on the use of B vitamins to treat migraine and neuralgia pain, length and frequency showed around a 50% improvement for participants. Balanced B vitamin levels reduced homocysteine levels, markers for inflammation in the body, by 39%. Vitamin C, or <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Sodium Ascorbate">sodium ascorbate, flushes chemicals out of the body while strengthening nerve fibers and blood vessel walls. Eliminating trigger foods and allergies from your diet combined with the appropriate vitamin levels for your body could help you to resolve the underlying issues that are contributing to your pain.

Having trouble treating neuralgic pain? Find the root cause of your neuralgia and treat it with the <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C, like sodium ascorbate or vitamin C powder.

Neuralgia is pain in a nerve, or group of nerves, without stimulation of the pain receptors. Since most pain medications affect only pain receptors, they have little or no affect on neuralgic pain.

Normally, pain receptors must be excited to cause pain. However, with neuralgia, the nerve itself malfunctions. It becomes sensitive and begins to create tiny signals between the fibers of the nerve. Getting to the root of the problem by treating the nerve sensitivity and other underlying causes of neuralgia can be very beneficial. First we will discuss the types of neuralgia that are most commonly suffered, their possible causes, and then their natural treatments.

1) Atypical trigeminal neuralgia sufferers have a constant migraine-like headache combined with pain in the teeth, ears, sinuses, temples, jaw, cheeks, and/or around the eyes. Pain can also shoot to the back of the scalp and neck. This condition is sometimes called an “atypical” migraine. It occurs due to vascular compression of the trigeminal nerve, which can happen if the teeth or sinuses have a viral or bacterial infection, or trauma. It is characterized by an electric-type shock or sharp stabbing pain.

2) Glossopharyngeal neuralgia is characterized by the same type of pain, but more central in the head. Glossopharyngeal pain attacks the back of the tongue, throat, inside of the nostrils, and/or parts of the ears. The glossopharyngeal nerve controls the muscles of the throat and sends messages from the tongue, throat and tonsils to the brain. This condition can occur if an artery is abnormally positioned and compresses the nerve where it exits the brain stem. Sometimes this pain is caused by a brain or neck tumor.

3) Occipital neuralgia is sometimes called C2 neuralgia, cervicogenic headache, or Arnold’s neuralgia. This pain in the occipital nerve affects the back of the head, upper neck and behind the eyes. This condition stems from the top of the spinal column, where the upper cervical spinal cord nerves and trigeminal nerve converge. The spinal cord nerves send sensory signals up to the brain while the trigeminal nerve sends signals down from the face and eyes, and head.

Malfunctions in the muscles, soft tissues, bony structures, or vascular structures in the neck can lead to nerve sensitivity and misfirings. Because the nerve cluster here sends signals in opposite directions, you can have misfire crossover, creating a positive feedback loop that is very hard to treat. A positive feedback loop is a series of signals that activate each other. For example, muscle spasms or vessel dilation press on the occipital nerve at the base of the skull, sending pain signals to the brain. The trigeminal nerve is activated to send signals to the brain that pain in the face and head is present. The sensitivity of the nerves can cause them to send their signals down or up the wrong nerve in the wrong direction, causing more severe pain and even stroke-like symptoms, such as memory loss, confusion, and amnesia.

In Part 2: Natural Relief for Neuralgia, we will discuss how to get to the root causes of these types of pain using natural techniques, vitamins and supplements. While not everything is completely understood by the medical community about neuralgia, we can still work with what we do know. Sometimes something as simple as taking the best vitamin C, like <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Sodium Ascorbate">sodium ascorbate or vitamin C powder, daily can help to strengthen nerve fibers, reduce overall inflammation, remove culprit toxins, and boost the immunity needed to combat triggers.

Learn how to control the genetic longevity of your cells' lives. Use exercise and appropriate supplementation with the best vitamin C powder, <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Sodium Ascorbate">sodium ascorbate.

Aging is a part of life that cannot be avoided. However, we may have some control over how quickly we age or how our bodies respond to age. Much of rate of the aging process is determined by our lifestyle, our genes, and environmental influences. Learning how aging occurs can help us to avoid things that trigger accelerations in the aging process. If it were not for disease, declining or malfunctioning organs, or the slowing of body systems, we probably wouldn’t mind aging much at all.

Slowing down the aging process and preventing things that are in our control can help us to reduce the risk of illness, disease, and disability. If you ask most people, the will agree that improving the quality of life is just as important as increasing longevity.

One interesting discovery about telomeres shows us how exercise can literally increase your lifespan in a way that we previously have not considered possible. Telomeres are “genetic”, so you would think that it would be something that you do not have control over. A telomere is like a cap that fits over the end of a strand of DNA. Telomeres protect our chromosomes from being damaged. Every time a cell replicates, the DNA strand separates and it loses a little bit of length from the telomere. When the telomere gets too short, DNA can be damaged. This is generally when our cells are “too old” to replicate anymore and enter a period of decline, or aging.

Studies on telomere length are interesting and show that people who exercise lose their telomere length at a much slower rate than their sedentary counterparts. In fact, runners in their 50’s have telomeres similar to those of someone in their 20’s, indicating that their cells will last a lot longer before they reach their replication limits and age.

Another way to lengthen the life of your cells is to protect your cells’ mitochondria. Mitochondria convert energy from each cell into a usable form. The process produces free radicals, or waste products, that need to be cleared from the cell. As we use oxygen, more free radicals are produced. Athletes produce more free radicals, which you would think damage and kill more cells, but regular exercise also increases each cell’s defense against the damage of free radicals.

Antioxidants are molecules that trap free radicals so that they can be cleared from the body before they cause damage to cellular membranes or DNA, which kills the cell. The body cannot manufacture all types of antioxidants, so even those who exercise regularly are generally urged to get extra vitamin E and vitamin C through supplementation or their diets. Those who don’t exercise regularly have an even higher requirement for antioxidants because when they exercise, they produce excess free radicals, but have not yet built up the natural defenses of their cells. People who live a sedentary lifestyle have an even higher depletion of antioxidants and are the most susceptible to oxidative stress, disease, and early death.

Aging can also affect our ability to absorb and use the antioxidants that we take or include in our diets. Highly absorbable, readily bioavailable forms of supplements are generally recommended as we get older. <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Sodium Ascorbate">Sodium ascorbate is one of the best forms of vitamin C and is generally well tolerated by those who have gastrointestinal disturbances with other forms of vitamin C. Speak with your doctor about how much of this buffered form of <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder would be appropriate for your age and activity level.

Millions die each year from heart disease and stroke, and the overwhelming evidence is that vitamin C supplementation would save many lives.

Here at Wholesale Nutrition, we highly value valid research related to vitamins and supplements. We are continually impressed with the reports from Orthomolecular Medicine News Service and would like to share some of their content with you from time to time. We hope you find it as fascinating as we do!

Vitamin C Saves Lives

Millions die each year from heart disease and stroke, and the overwhelming evidence is that vitamin C supplementation would save many lives.

Two-time Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling estimated that the rate of heart disease would be reduced by 80 per cent if adults in the US supplemented with 2,000 to 3,000 mg of vitamin C each day. According to Dr. Pauling, “Since vitamin C deficiency is the common cause of human heart disease, vitamin C supplementation is the universal treatment for this disease.”[1] Heart disease is the number one killer in the US. For those with existing heart disease Dr. Pauling said that blockage of heart arteries could actually be reversed by supplementing with 6,000 of vitamin C and 6,000 of lysine (a common amino acid) taken in divided doses throughout the day. Vitamin C supplementation both lowers serum cholesterol levels and repairs lesions of arterial walls. 1998 Nobel Prize winner Dr. Louis J. Ignarro found that supplementing with vitamin C and vitamin E significantly reduces the risk of developing arteriosclerosis.[2]

A study examined vitamin E and vitamin C supplement use in relation to mortality risk in 11,178 persons aged 67-105 who participated in the Established Populations for Epidemiologic Studies of the Elderly over a nine year period.[3] Simultaneous use of vitamins E and C was associated with a lower risk of total mortality and coronary mortality after adjusting for alcohol use, smoking history, aspirin use, and medical conditions.

A landmark study following over 85,000 nurses over a 16-year period for a total of 1,240,000 person-years found that vitamin C supplementation significantly reduced the risk of heart disease.[4] Intake of vitamin C from foods alone was insufficient to significantly effect the rate of heart disease. High quantities of vitamin C from supplements was essential to provide the protective effects. The study adjusted for age, smoking, and a variety of other coronary risk factors.

An international team pooled data from nine prospective studies of 293,000 people that included information on intakes of vitamin E, carotenoids, and vitamin C, with a 10-year follow-up to check for major incident coronary heart disease events in people without disease when the study began. Dietary intake of antioxidant vitamins was only weakly related to a reduced coronary heart disease risk. However, subjects who took as little as 700 mg of vitamin C daily in supplement form reduced their risk of heart disease events by 25 per cent compared to those who took no supplements. [5]

Researchers in Finland measured serum vitamin C levels in 2,419 middle-aged male participants of the ongoing Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study. Men with a history of stroke were excluded from this analysis. Participants were followed for up to 10 years; the outcome of interest was development of stroke. During the follow-up period 120 participants suffered a stroke. After controlling for potential confounders – including age, BMI, smoking, blood pressure, and serum cholesterol – the researchers found that men with a low vitamin C level in their blood were more than twice as likely as those with a higher vitamin C blood level to experience a stroke.[6]

A stroke commonly occurs when a blood clot or thrombus blocks the blood flow to parts of the brain. A thrombus may form in an artery affected by arteriosclerosis. A recent study has shown how low plasma vitamin C was associated with increased risk of stroke, especially among hypertensive and overweight men.[7]

Vitamin C is preserves the integrity of the artery walls and strengthens cardiovascular tissue. Research indicates a reduced incidence of major coronary heart disease events at high supplemental vitamin C intakes.[8] Recent studies have shown that vitamin C appears to reduce levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker of inflammation, and there is a growing body of evidence that chronic inflammation is linked to an increased risk of heart disease.[9]

Most Americans fail to eat the US RDA for several vitamins and minerals. Supplements are not the problem; they are the solution. Malnutrition is the problem.

What is Orthomolecular Medicine?

Linus Pauling defined orthomolecular medicine as “the treatment of disease by the provision of the optimum molecular environment, especially the optimum concentrations of substances normally present in the human body.” Orthomolecular medicine uses safe, effective nutritional therapy to fight illness.
Vitamin C is essential in healing stomach ulcers. Learn why sodium ascorbate is the <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C for gastrointestinal disorders.

Most people with stomach ulcers have to avoid certain foods that cause them pain or discomfort. This generally includes spicy foods and foods with a high acid content. Unfortunately, this eliminates many of the fruits and vegetables from the diet that are high in vitamin C. Many people complain that vitamin C supplements, like chewable vitamin C tablets, are too acidic and aggravate their stomach discomforts.

The problem now is that most doctors are recommending a diet high in vitamin C for people with irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, peptic ulcers, and ulcerative colitis. You can avoid the discomfort of acidic foods and vitamin supplements by using the best vitamin C on the market, vitamin C powder. Vitamin C powder is a buffered form of vitamin C called “sodium ascorbate”. It is easily absorbed and used by the body and is almost completely acid-free.

There are many good reasons why doctors and gastroenterologist recommend higher doses of vitamin C to their patients suffering from gastrointestinal conditions. Most stomach ulcers are caused by a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). In a study done by the Journal of the American College of Nutrition showed that patients with H. pylori infections had low levels of vitamin C. While they couldn’t say if the low levels of vitamin C were caused by the infection or if the infection took hold because of vitamin C deficiencies, other studies have found that vitamin C supplementation may help to prevent or reduce the effects of these infections.

Vitamin C is essential in creating, repairing, and maintaining connective tissues, like the epithelial tissues in the stomach lining. It is a vital part of collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are constantly needed for repairing our cells. Epithelial cells, like in the stomach lining, are constantly breaking down and needing to be rebuilt. Without enough vitamin C in the diet of someone suffering from stomach ulcers, these repairs cannot take place and damage will continue to occur.

Supplementing with <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Sodium Ascorbate">sodium ascorbate is a great way to ensure that your stomach lining is healing as quickly as possible. Other benefits include a strengthening of the immune system, reducing your chances of developing more ulcers. Stress has been identified as a trigger for ulcers to develop and using <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder as a supplement is a great way to regulate the production of stress hormones.

Talk with your doctor about incorporating vitamin C supplements into your treatment plan. A combination of antibiotics and stomach acid inhibitors or neutralizers will likely still be necessary. However, you can shorten your healing time and reduce your chances of recurring infections by adding vitamin C to your treatment plan.

What happens in your body to produce a hangover. Learn how vitamins and supplements can help. The best vitamin C, <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder, is a good place to start.

When alcohol is broken down by the liver, it is converted to acetaldehyde, which is between 10 and 30 times more toxic than the alcohol that was consumed. As this happens, other enzymatic systems in the body are inhibited and the liver must focus its energy on repairing these systems. Therefore, it is unable to perform its duties of helping blood glucose levels rise back up to acceptable levels. Alcohol consumption also keeps the kidneys from inhibiting diuresis, which means the body becomes dehydrated.

The brain needs high levels of glucose and water to function, so the combined dehydration and hypoglycemia cause extreme fatigue, fogginess, headaches, light sensitivity, depth perception, depression, anxiety, and more. Additionally, the over-production of urine and dehydration cause many vitamins and nutrients to be flushed from the body.

Normally, the liver would be able to remove toxins, such as acetaldehyde, from the body. However, because the liver’s supply of peptides and amino acids, such as glutathione, are flushed, it is unable to remove dangerous toxins and free radicals. Furthermore, the presence of ethanol in the body causes the enzyme cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) to be activated. This enzyme produces a flood of toxins and free radicals in the body, which the liver is unable to handle. This enzyme also interferes with the way most medications work, putting you at an even higher risk for disease.

When ethanol is present in the bloodstream, metabolism is suppressed, causing many of these enzymatic processes to be slowed. This is why a hangover is not usually felt until the alcohol has “worn off”. It is also why many hangover symptoms can be “cured” by drinking more alcohol. This is a very dangerous way to cure a hangover because you are stacking toxins on top of toxins and further inhibiting, and likely permanently squelching, your body’s ability to recover.

Antioxidant vitamins and supplements can help you to aid your liver in removing damaging free radicals. Vitamins must be replaced to get the body back in balance so that it can function normally. Vitamins are not just for making you feel better, but are necessary for you to protect yourself from disease caused by the havoc that alcohol wreaks on your body. Thiamine, vitamin B1, is the most common deficiency found in people that consume alcohol. This deficiency causes irreversible brain damage, inhibits the absorption of vitamins and nutrients, and when left untreated, causes damage to the liver, intestines, and pancreas.

Vitamins are necessary for helping your body recover from alcohol use. Vitamin C is an excellent choice of antioxidant if you’re looking to protect your cells from damage and remove toxins from the body. When combined with other antioxidants, like vitamin E and CoQ10, the protective qualities are enhanced and prolonged. The <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C is a buffered <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder, a non-acidic, highly absorbable form of vitamin C is a good way to get started on a vitamins and supplements routine. Have your vitamin B levels checked by your physician so that they can help you decide which daily vitamins are right for you.

Properly taking care of your body before and after alcohol consumption will help your body to absorb the vitamins that you take, store the ones that need to be stored, and use them in the way that they are supposed to be used.

Choose products with the best vitamin C and that resist oxidation. <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">Vitamin c powder, in a buffered, non-acidic form, can be used if you have sensitive skin.

Vitamin C has been proven to be very beneficial for a wide variety of skin problems. Vitamin C is necessary for the body to produce collagen and elastin. It also neutralizes skin damaging free radicals that are produced when you are stressed, exposed to the sun, pollution, cigarette smoke and more. Vitamin C thickens the skin, helping it to retain moisture and a plumped, younger looking appearance.

For years, cosmetics companies have been trying to incorporate vitamin C into their wrinkle creams and serums. However, there has always been the problem of keeping the vitamin C stable enough not to oxidize while in the product or on the face. Vitamin C becomes oxidized when it is exposed to oxygen. This will make it turn yellow, orange, or brown. When it is in the oxidized form, it is actually very harmful to the skin. This is why, when you buy products that have vitamin C in them, you should always choose ones that are white or clear so that you can tell when they expire.

Studies show that products containing between 10% and 20% vitamin C are most effective. Formulations containing ferulic acid are the most stable for external use. Ferulic acid is found in plants and it gives their cell walls their rigidity. It not only adds an extra benefit for firming skin, but also works synergistically with vitamin C to keep it from oxidizing for longer.

When used with vitamin E, vitamin C and ferulic acid protect DNA from the photochemical reactions that can lead to tumors, skin discolorations, and several types of skin cancer. When used topically, they inhibit the production of pyrimidine dimers, which are the primary cause of melanomas in humans. They also help to protect cells and heal cells that have been mutated by pyrimidine dimers.

Besides inhibiting tumor formation and helping to protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun and pollutants, vitamin C can have some cosmetic benefits as well. It increases collagen and elastin formation, which helps to thicken, protect, and heal cells. This thickening effect helps skin to retain moisture, increasing circulation and plumping up the skin’s surface. It eradicates free radicals that damage skin, causing wrinkles and discolorations. It lightens dark discolorations, such as freckles and age spots. Continued use can reverse sun damage and help you to achieve younger, smoother looking skin.

Most people are tolerant of vitamin C on their skin. However, if you have more sensitive skin, you may notice some irritation. If you experience this, use products with a lower concentration of vitamin C. You may also choose to make your own vitamin C masks, serums and moisturizers using a non-acidic, buffered form of vitamin C, like <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder. The <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C in the form of a powder may have added ingredients, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium and zinc, to increase the absorption and effectiveness of the vitamin C on your skin.

To make your own vitamin C products, first dissolve the powder in water. Then, put it directly on your skin or mix it with honey, lotion or other facial products. Because vitamin C will oxidize, you should only leave it on your skin, exposed to the air, for around 20 minutes. You can leave some of the product that you make out in the open to see how long it lasts before you decide how long you can leave it on.

If you are concerned or experience a skin reaction, you should contact your physician or dermatologist for advice. If you are unable to use vitamin C externally, you may consider adding it into your vitamins and supplements routine. You can still experience the protective and beautifying benefits of vitamin C whether you use it topically or internally.

Vitamins and supplements are essential in advanced age. Non-acidic, <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder and other antioxidants work together to combat oxidative stress.

Many people turn to vitamins when searching for the “fountain of youth”. With only a little research you will start to see the value of vitamins for the brain, immunity, skin, cardiovascular health, and more. However, it can be difficult to formulate your own cocktail of vitamins and supplements that will help you to live a healthier and happier, longer life. Here we wanted to dive into why certain vitamins work in certain combinations and how they can slow down or stop the deterioration that happens when we age.

Most problems that come with aging are not due to the natural decline in the ability of the body to do its job, but can be contributed directly to free radical damage and oxidative stress inhibiting these processes. Our genes are programmed to handle almost anything that is thrown at them. However, free radicals interfere with the activation of our genes’ protective abilities and result in chronic inflammation and disease.

Our bodies need oxygen to survive, but too much oxygen or broken molecules of oxygen, can damage cells. We are designed to handle this sort of assault and we actually need it to activate protective actions in our cells, among other biochemical processes in the body. However, an imbalance in the rate in which our bodies break down and repair themselves can lead to oxidative stress. This is where the level of free radicals becomes too high and begins to interfere with and kill healthy cells.

Antioxidants attract free radicals and keep them from attaching to healthy cell components. As we age, our natural antioxidant levels are diminished. Therefore, supplementing with antioxidant vitamins becomes increasingly important as time progresses. Certain antioxidants work well together, so there are a few things to consider when you start talking with your doctor about which vitamins and supplements routines will work best for you.

As antioxidants take over free radicals, they essentially become a weaker form of a free radical themselves. However, these free radicals can be turned back into an antioxidant by other antioxidants. That is why it is so important to carefully choose and combine your antioxidant vitamins. Vitamin E can be revived by vitamin C or coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Glutathione and vitamin C can be revived by vitamin E. Antioxidant vitamins work together synergistically to avoid cellular death and the diminished protective function of cells that commonly causes depressed health in advanced age.

Speak with your doctor about which antioxidant vitamins are best for you. According to Dr. Lester Packer, a leading expert in the field of biochemistry and biophysics, the right combination of antioxidants includes vitamin C, vitamin E, glutathione, coenzyme Q10, and lipoic acid. His research has shown that each one revives and spares one another from destruction, making them a potent combination for combating the problems that occur with aging.

Choose highly absorbable, potent forms of vitamins to ensure that they will not go to waste. The <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Best Vitamin C">best vitamin C is a buffered, non-acidic, <a href="http://www.nutri.com"title="Vitamin C Powder">vitamin c powder. Make sure that you take water soluble vitamins with water and fat soluble ones with fats. Correctly taking the right combination of antioxidant vitamins in your later years can help you to avoid illness and diseases that can diminish your quality of life.
